Adult Reference Librarians 1 FT (35 hours/week) and 1 PT (approximately 19 hours/week)  Starting salaries will be between $56,382 ($30.98/hour) and $65,956 ($36.24/hour) depending on qualifications and experience; municipal benefits package provided.
What will you contribute as a Reference Librarian in the new post-pandemic era of public library service?  Our Adult Services Department provides collection development, reference, reader’s advisory, and referral services, as well as access to technology and electronic resources, outreach to community groups, and programs that explore literature, music, art, current topics, and new ideas.  The new members of our team will be a part of our professional staff and will help us achieve our mission: “to create welcoming experiences for people of all ages in our diverse region that will foster opportunities for community connections, promote individual growth, and provide access to resources that spark creativity.”  Both positions require a graduate degree in Library Science or a closely related field, library experience, and a willingness to work with other professionals whose special talents combine to maintain a patron-centered resource for the community.  Both positions include evening and weekend schedules. Supervisor of Children’s/Young Adult Services  FT (35 hours/week)  Starting Salary $65,956 with municipal benefits package.

The Supervisor of Children’s and Young Adult Services performs responsible professional and technical work as a key member of the Library’s management team. In consultation with department staff (3 FT; 1+ PT), the Children’s/YA Supervisor interprets user needs, manages collection development, plans programming, marketing, and appropriate utilization of library resources.  The Children’s/YA Supervisor oversees the department’s involvement in the community and, as a member of the Library’s senior professional staff, makes recommendations for policies, procedures, services, and sources of budgetary support.  Work schedule includes regular evening and weekend rotations.  This position requires a Master’s Degree in Library Science and a minimum of three years progressively responsible experience; some personnel and budgeting experience preferred. Library Assistant III FT/Children’s & YA Library Beginning Salary: $46,808 with municipal benefits package. Library Assistants III provide customer service at our Children’s circulation desk, assist with reference and reader’s advisory work, participate in collection development, and prepare and present children’s programs.  Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to reading, literature, library science, or child development required; Library Technical Assistant certification or previous library experience highly desirable. 35-hours/week year-round, with regular evenings and weekend rotations.
